Amigos Queridos,
We would like to introduce you to our new catalog named Milagros.
This endeavor comes as a result of the growing need for spiritual product that caters to and embodies the Hispanic marketplace.
It has become popular to quote statistics that list the growing prominence of the Hispanic culture in America but we thought it was time to do something proactive for retailers throughout America that want to encourage Hispanics to shop at their stores.
Most Americans don’t know that there are more Hispanics in the U.S. than people living in Canada. Hispanics now number close to 40 million people in this country and by 2010 we will have over a trillion dollars of purchasing power each year. Latino or Hispanic as a description refers to an origin or ethnicity, not a race. There is no one monolithic “Latino market.” The Latino market is comprised of subcultures from more than twenty countries. Many of us hold on to the precious values of our heritage while reveling in the fact that we are also American and citizens of the greatest country on earth. We are proud to be Latino Americans and have long felt that retailers in this country may need some help in buying for our demographic.
With limited space and time we have sampled various religious categories in an effort to give our customers a cross section of religious product that we feel has ample margins and a very good chance for sell through.
Milagros is not limited to Hispanics and we feel many of your Catholic customers will find most of the product appealing but a catalog with a Latin theme in our opinion is long overdue. We struggled with offering both English and Spanish copy and finally after much discussion decided that English copy would be broader and offer a better compromise for our first edition.
We hope you enjoy Milagros and can embrace the spirit in which it was created. Many people played a role in its development and their contributions were very much appreciated.
